The Queens College Urban Studies Club provides a dynamic, social and less formal venue for exploring the contemporary urban issues that affect the lives of Queens College students. We feature film screenings (with directors’ talks), guest lectures by local academics, urban studies practitioners and activists, brown bags with Urban Studies professors, information sessions on the Urban Studies Internship and MA programs, Careers in Urban Studies seminars and service and experiential learning events and opportunities.
Past events have included:
*A Teach-in on Human Trafficking
*Classic Urban Film Series
*Documentary Film Screenings and Discussions
*Loot, Loot, Loot for the Hometeam (about the building of the new Yankee Stadium)
*Urban Native Americans, Past and Present
*Hunger Awareness Events
*Earth Week Events
In coming semesters, we will partner with the Environmental Studies Club to work on projects such as: developing a campus garden, cool roofs, and more!
